Introduction Joto Afrika is a series of printed briefings and online resources about adapting to climate change in sub- Saharan Africa. The series helps people understand the issues, constrains and opportunities that poor people face in adapting to climate change and escaping poverty Joto Afrika is Swahili; it can be loosely translated to mean ‘Africa is feeling the heat’. It’s produced four times a year by ALIN in partnership with Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and AfricaAdapt .The series are funded by UK Department for International Development (DFID) through the IDS knowledge services AND Climate Change Adaptation in Africa (CCAA) research and capacity development programme, which is jointly funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and DFID. Articles from Joto Afrika may be re-used, provided the materials are distributed free of charge and the author(s) are credited.
