| Introduction | At some point in the late 1950's, in early childhood, I was given a Triang Hornby 00 train set and accessories by my father who fixed it to a board set up in the bay window of our abode. Like many modellers it was being given a train set at an early age that sparked my interest in railways. The 1950s marked one of the major milestones in railway modelling when certain gifted individuals were turning train sets into quite convincing miniature landscapes. John Ahern, G. Iliffe Stokes (Ravensbourne c 1950-58), Peter Denny (Buckingham Branch Lines 1945-2009) and Roye England's Pendon team are the pioneers who's work become an inspiration for me in later years. In the late 1960s I started Railway Modelling proper. My flagship layout is Misterton. It began in the late 1970s (EM) and has been redeveloped three times into its final form of today (00). Five other layouts now exist alongside including the award winning Cliddesden (N) exhibition layout. This Blog enables me to share my activities with like minded enthusiasts. |
