Introduction As you can guess, my name is Mike, I'm a biologist (evolutionary biology/microbiology), and I'm more than a little annoyed at how things are going (thus the "Mad" part). I'm not going to say much else because I believe that the best way to keep your personal life is not to talk about it. I'm not the blogging type-it's always struck me as exhibitionist and narcissistic. So why did I decide to start a blog? I suppose it's frustration with the recent US elections; I figure it's time to try to put some different ideas out there. Besides, I've decided that on occassion, I'm going to submit articles to some of the internet journals out there-this seems as good as place to hash through the ideas. One more thing: I'm an employee of the Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics. The opinions on this blog are mine, and mine alone, and do not represent the official views or opinions of the APUA.

Do you believe that forks are evolved from spoons?

Can't say yet. Preliminary data indicate that sporks are the common ancestor of forks and spoons. We're sequencing the spork genome right now.
