| Introduction | My name is Gezamani Escobar-Perez, but most people call me Mimi. I am 19 years old and I was born and raised in Austin, Texas. All my family and the people I grew up with were either from Mexico or Central and South America. This, I believe affected me in the way I was brought up viewing politics. Nobody ever talked about politics or the government. For that reason I was never a fan of U.S Government, and I found it really boring. My first reason for taking this course was because it is required by Texas, but now, I want to take it so it can open my mind to better understand and know more about government. I want to be able to know what people are talking about and join in conversations when it comes to politics and not be so ignorant. As I mention, I do not know anything on politics, so I have no political experience. My political ideology is apparently Disaffected, which I do not agree or disagree because I myself do not know where I stand. I have an open mind and I am ready to learn new things that will not only help me, but also my family. As a Mexican-American, I wish to learn more about government so I can be a better, responsible and intellectual voter in the future. |
