Introduction | I don’t try to seek out inspiration for my work, instead I open my eyes wider to see more inspiring things. If I’m more observant to my surroundings I can find inspiration in any little thing. The color of leaves, a tea stain, shadows in the snow… anything that comes across my path affects my art. When I am inspired my work takes on a mind of its own and I feel more like an instrument than a creator. I am often influenced in my paintings by my photographs. I enjoy using photographs, the things I see around me, and incorporating them into my paintings. The meanings behind my artwork are more feelings than ideas. I like creating an atmosphere or an aesthetic rather than something that makes people think or having a deeper meaning behind them. I enjoy this fact of an atmosphere because it leaves room for the viewer to make their own connection to my work. |
