Introduction | I’ve been a university lecturer, actor, director, TV presenter and held Writing Fellowships at three Scottish universities. My crime novels, Material Evidence, Rough Justice, The Darkness, Shadow Selves and Unsafe Acts, are set in Scotland. The Figurehead, a crime/romance set in 1840, was long-listed for the International Rubery Book Award 2012. The Sparrow Conundrum, a crime spoof, won the 2011 Forward National Literature Award for Humor and The Darkness won the Mystery award. My novella, Alternative Dimension, satirises online role playing games and the overlapping of virtual and real worlds. Finally, The Loch Ewe Mystery is an adventure story for children. I've written and performed skits and songs at the Edinburgh Festival. My short stories have appeared in the CWA’s annual anthologies and one was chosen for 2010’s Book of Best British Mysteries. I’ve written radio and stage plays which have been produced in three countries and a prize-winning verse translation of Molière’s Sganarelle. I co-authored Just Write and, for Pearson Education, I’ve written Brilliant Study Skills, Brilliant Essay, Brilliant Dissertation, Brilliant Academic Writing and Brilliant Workplace Skills. |
