Introduction Avid learner, mainly self-taught. Libertarian, philosopher, poet. Lived and worked in China past six years as organizational and personal development consultant and teacher at universities. Number of different life careers - one long careen. Experience in: creating, owning, managing businesses, including designing and building houses, inventing a modular building system using hyperbolic paraboloid thin shells, and manufacturing women's clothing designed by my wife; inventing and entrepreneurial activity, including obtaining patents and bringing new products to the market; writing poetry, prose and doing photography; adult community education and life-long learning; general market research; singles and opposite-sex relationship counselling; starting up and managing a business that brought male/female singles together for marriage; palliative care and older persons advocacy; group facilitation and community mentoring; research in mental and public health; creating and delivering psycho-education courses for singles and couples for a non-profit; teaching ESL content rich classes; creating and delivering university courses and business workshops using action and brain-based learning.
Interests The 4 virtues: Freedom, Responsibility, Sympathy, Knowledge. These include self-determination, reason, acknowledged feelings, earned respect, self-and-other responsibility, moral integrity, passion, courage, commitment, competency, beauty, wisdom, serenity, elegance, autonomy, truthfulness, science, technology, Western and Eastern classics in all areas of human endeavor, the complementary of sexual and other opposites and Aristotelian logic, making mistakes and meaning, atheism, the free market, trustworthiness and love.
Favorite Movies Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing, Stealing Heaven, Dangerous Beauty, Kama Sutra, A Room With A View, For Roseanna, A Passage To India, Artemisia, L.A. Love Story, The Jerk, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, The Road Home.
Favorite Music Melodic fusion jazz and some New Age: Yoni, Kenny G, Kirk Whalum, George Benson, et al. Most classical, especially Italian Baroque, up to Mozart and then very selective after that - such as Williams' Lark Ascending and Barber's Adagio for Strings. Perhaps my favorite two: Pat Metheny's "You" on his Speaking Of Now Live and Yoni's "Love Is All" on his Tribute.
