| Introduction | I am a graduate and registered practitioner of Shiatsu with the British School of Shiatsu-Do. I discovered Shiatsu when experiencing chronic lower back pain. I had tried all sorts of treatments over two years which had had no effect and then by chance was offered a Shiatsu treatment. The results were so immediate and conclusive that I decided that this was to be my next focus of study. Shiatsu has given me the opportunity to focus on a holistic therapy following on from my studies in reflexology and spiritual healing. I worked abroad as a bi-lingual secretary for 10 years, then qualified as a teacher and taught IT and French on moving to Cambridge in 1988. Having a keen interest to work in the health sector I started working in the NHS in 1996 in management training and business management roles. In 2003, I realised that I wanted to work more directly with people in a profession where I could have a direct effect on their health and well-being. I began my Shiatsu training and left the NHS to pursue a career in complementary therapies. I am now also qualified in Thai Massage! |
