Introduction I lived most of my life in Chester in the UK until the age of 27 when I decided I wanted to experience new things in life. I gave my house away, quit my job and decided to try to walk to Rome in Italy to raise money for charity. Things didn't exactly work out how I had planned - it cost me a lot of money, I raised less than I spent and I had to abandon half way through France after realising that I wouldn't have enough money to complete it. I spent the end of summer and autumn travelling around Italy with a 5 week stay in Rome being the highlight. Along the way I met many wonderful people and the whole experience, from start to finish, really changed my outlook on life. I now live in Germany since a director I had worked with in the past called me up out of the blue whilst I was in Rome to offer me a job. I have been here since the end of October 2009. Germany is a really cool place and people here are so good to me but I do miss home. I never thought I would say it but each time I have a visit there it gets harder to leave people behind!
