IntroductionI am a New Zealand art writer, artist and curator who lives in Auckland. Trained in painting at the University of Canterbury in the early seventies, I also gained a BA in religious studies. My paintings are in most national collections and my work toured nationally in 'The Grid: Lattice and Network' (patterned geometric paintings), 'Putting the Land on the Map' (paintings on maps), 'The Word' (alphabet soup and varnish paintings) and in Australia, 'Heart + Land' and 'Headlands'. I currently show my work at City Art Rooms, Auckland. In the mid-eighties I was art reviewer for The Christchurch Press and The Dominion Sunday-Times, in the mid-nineties the Curator at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, and in the early 2000s the Curator of Art at the Waikato Museum of Art and History Te Whare Taonga o Waikato. Besides eyeCONTACT I write from time to time for Australian Art Collector. Recent catalogue essays have been on the work of Tom Kreisler, Simon Morris and Julia Morison.
