Introduction I'm in my last semester of college, soon to graduate with a degree in (really!) Public History and the Applied History of Clothing and Needle Arts. This involves a great deal of making things up along the way, and using historical costuming blogs for research. Also over 100 library books to date. I use academic writing, informal writing, and actual construction to explore the clothing of the past and its relationships with people. Next up, a Master's degree in Public History. In what is laughingly referred to as my “free time,” I take up random crafts, cook delicious food, read voraciously, and watch a lot of British television streaming on Netflix.
Interests pretty things, reading, sewing, the past, social history, 19th century studies, living history, learning, vintage, old movies, new movies, DVD commentaries, staying up late talking politics, the color red, coordinated accessories, stories about good and evil, Captain Jack Harkness, chai lattes, writing, education, cooking, baking, research, watching other people do karaoke, being overdressed most of the time
Favorite Movies An Affair to Remember, Stardust, Love Actually, Crash, Garden State, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Ever After, The Holiday, The King and I, The Princess Bride, Wilde, How To Marry a Millionaire, A League of Their Own, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Mummy, Little Women, The Great Mouse Detective, The Aristocats, The Buccaneers, North & South (the BBC movie), Pride and Prejudice (the usual one), Wives and Daughters, Firefly, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Deadwood, Jericho, Mad Men, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Favorite Music I can't handle the pressure of making this list!
Favorite Books Thought for the moment: everything but Mansfield Park. Sigh. I love Austen, but, really? There's no fun in reading about Fanny Price.
