| Introduction | Music geeks welcome. This is a blog for good old-fashioned rants about music. I generally don’t agree with how music is treated these days. It’s often regarded as something to consume, to collect, to specialize in, to accept or reject and then go about your day. What I love about the experience of music, though, is the process itself. To me, music’s something to engage with, to wrestle with, to analyze, to make sense of. Most music reviews are far too presumptuous and too final in their filing of what’s “good” and “bad.” What about all of those listens after the review is published? Don’t take my opinions personally—that’s my job. I don’t claim to possess any objectively determined superiority of taste; I can only speak for myself. You’re more than welcome to try to change my mind! Just don’t be ignorant, rude, elitist, or generally troll-like. |
