Introduction Award Winning Artist Liberty Proffit Day grew up learning the skills necessary to work on the family ranch that would inspire her future as she built an inseparable relationship with the land, the animals & the culture of western life. Liberty is a self-taught watercolorist, but she studied other forms of art & art history at 2 universities as well as independently studying across Europe & Central America. Her husband, David, encouraged her to paint & develop her style while helping her manage the intricacies of being the mother of their 3 children, a ranch hand & an artist. Among her achievements, Day was awarded Best of the Wild Horse Award for the juried Wild Horse and Western Art Show in Rock Springs, WY. Day was also asked to paint an original work for the Steward of the Range Annual Conference in Reno, NV. She was one of 2 artists honored & featured at Shadow Mountain Gallery's Women of the West Art Show in Jackson Hole, WY. Day's artwork has been featured in publications like Cowboy Magazine, Range Magazine, Small Farmer's Journal, Record Stockman, Wyoming LIvestock Roundup, The Cornerstone and Rocky Mountain Rider.
