Introduction	I am a graphic designer and author with a background in history. I live by the Thames, in London, with my wife, Caroline, who writes children’s fiction. I have written two books about period houses, including The Book of the Edwardian & Interwar House (Aurum Press 2009). I grew up in a semi-detached house built in 1915 and later lived for thirty years in a terraced house built in 1884. We still live in Battersea near Clapham Junction, an area built up after the station opened in 1861.
