| Introduction | I am a Mouldewaper, It is not a decision or a career choice just a realisation that the interplay of character and circumstance have lead me to this place and I have neither the power or the will to fight it. It's been said that you can divide the world into Gardeners and non-gardeners for it is a frame of mind which may be played out in varied arenas of life. Mouldewapers are something else...Ur-gardeners perhaps? Some years ago I fell foul of a virus? or maybe an act of God; either way it was a personal catastrophe. Left with a diagnosis of ME/CFS in medical limbo, no help, mentally and physically disabled. My journey back has been harder than I thought I could bear and on the way I encountered some things I had never known. I don't know how to describe the illness without sounding like some strung out vet, ''You don't know man, you weren't there'. Just to say that when I die I am confident that it won't be as bad. In this place I will talk about Gardens and People and Plants and inevitably M.E for it is as ubiquitous as the air I breathe ( if of course I do in this place). M.E is not a disease you have, it has you and it is what you become. |
