Introduction I am a designer weaver and love to use natural yarns in my work, such as linen, silk, alpaca, cashmere and merino wool. I am fascinated by the long history of weaving and research ancient textiles and the techniques used to produce them. I have 20 YouTube videos about band weaving at: https://www.youtube.com/user/durhamsilkweaver/ Using ancient Roman silk damask patterns, I have undertaken commissions to weave silk cloth for ecclesiastical textiles, such as chasubles and stoles. Developing ancient patterns brings the ingenuity of past weavers into the present and enables the beauty of their cloth to be appreciated. My particular interest is in the woven folk bands of Europe. I have spent many hours with curators in museums examining their wonderful collections. I run workshops and online courses about band weaving. My books are published by Blurb.com. In July my book about Patterned Band Weaving will be published by Schiffer. My Pinterest site is a great resource if you are interested in weaving and spinning.
