Introduction I'm an Island girl, having lived in some of the dingiest houses in one of the most beautiful havens in the world. I'm well-versed at the student life. Five years ago, I started fresh here and at the same time left behind my fiction writing habits. Instead, I started trying to be more of a realist, for the sake of a reality that is never too narrow and ever calling us to higher aspirations. Memoir, immersion, meditative, lyric and personal essays are all a part of the creative non-fiction genre I fell in love with over the course of my creative writing and English literature degree. Now, half a year after my convocation, I'm three months into a book contract with Rocky Mountain Books but I still don't feel like a writer. I write every day and I'm weekly sharing my pages with a professional editor who happens to be my co-writer on the project. Life is one big identity crisis, right? Well, maybe not a problem, but more of a challenge, if I'm going to try to spin it positively. I'm ready to shed the imposter syndrome, though. It's time.
