Introduction | Full-back, later centre-forward but always captain of my school 2nd team, age 12 to 16. Inside-forward, HMS Royal Albert, the ship's team. (Crew of 12.) Goalkeeper, St John's College, York, 2nd team. Retired at age 22. Fan of Kirkington Hill Home Guards and Bishop Auckland FC. |
Interests | Houses: in London mainly: assessing when they were built from their style. The result of trying to buy in a seller's market years ago: I had to look at a lot of them. |
Favorite Movies | I cannot recall the titles but I have enjoyed quite a few foreign films. With sub-titles. Alfred Sisley, an Impressionist along with Monet and Pisarro, is my favourite painter. Died penniless in 1899 and a few years later one of his paintings sold for a fortune .... An Englishman he has probably ended in the background because of not being French enough. His paintings are not dramatic unless painting the underside of a bridge (on canvas) is drama. It is extraordinary that I first saw exhibitions of Impressionist paintings in Tokyo in the 1980s!! |
