| Introduction | For the past few years my art-life has been in an uncomfortable state of flux and transition. A collision of my trajectory as a maturing artist and human being with the explosion of possibilities brought about by the digital invasion of photographic image making has resulted in many challenges in the realms of the practical, the philosophical and the aesthetic. Like many people, I am both dependent upon and in rebellion against many of the technologies that pervade our current view of the world. One of the results is that I sometimes feel like a babe in the woods, and sometimes like a jaded and bitter old crust, both in my art and my life. It can be hard to find ones feet and ones path in a world of change. Sometimes I am tempted to revert to tried-and-true means of expression, sometimes ready to leap into the unknown. The resiliency and tenacity of the life force expressed in nature sustains me- the heartbeat of the world keeps my heart beating, my feet dancing, my art growing. |
