| Introduction | Woman with bipolar/schizoaffective disorder writing about my experiences with the illness. I am a mother, teacher, world traveler, food lover, cat person, musician, movie buff and mental illness/addictions survivor. My story is not new. It is the story of many I have had the honour of knowing. I work my own therapy with the words I put down here whether they be read by just me or many others. If you are reading this I hope you take away something as to what m.i. is like. My life has not been conventionally successful as main stream society would see it. However I think I am a success. I owe the Canadian health system a big thank-you. If I had my illness in other countries I would probably be dead by now. I feel for my American friends who suffer the illness. I also owe my worker and pdoc for their outstanding devotion. The ACTT team has been wonderful. Also Mary Ellen Copland is the inspiration for this blog. As I work on my own WRAP and deleve deeply into my memories and feelings/experiences the easiest way for me to bring them to the surface is through poetry and such. Thank-you for your genius Mary Ellen. |
