Introduction Born in Japan,1966, Ryusuke specifically came to finish his schooling at Dartington Hall School as a result of Bernard Leach’s reputation. He went on to study History of Art at Waseda University in Japan but returned to England to study Postgraduate ceramics at Goldsmith’s Collage in London. Back home he became an assistant to Ryoji Koie, considered one of Japan’s most innovative ceramic artist’s, before setting up his own studio. His first solo exhibition in 1994 at the Keio Gallery, Tokyo has led to him exhibiting regularly 5 or 6 times a year since then. He produces a wide variety of work from fine art ceramic sculptures to tea ceremony pots. He is also a Professor at the Kaigan Museum of Art.
