Introduction | As a new bride in the 1950s, Nanette decided she could never be content with homemaking as a full-time profession. She reached out, children and all, to embrace a life she loved: family and work. Nanette J. Davis received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Michigan State University and completed a post-doctorate degree at Stanford University. Dr. Davis has more than four decades experience as an educator, writer, advocate, researcher, and lecturer. Her scholarly work includes 13 books and more than 100 articles, encyclopedia contributions, research reports, book chapters, and reviews. Nanette was granted the prestigious Fulbright Senior Scholar Award, among other accolades, and has most recently taught at Western Washington University, Chapman University and Portland State University. She is one of the founders of Bellingham At Home, a virtual village to assist seniors to stay in their home as long as possible. Nanetteās passions include traveling, reading, gardening, and spending time with her expansive family of six children, 10 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She lives in Bellingham, Washington with her husband, Burl Harmon. |
