| Introduction | I am a deaf (hearing impaired) "adult" learner. I am enrolled in a second degree program in Translation (French to English). I am also an instructor of English as a Second Language (ESL), and have taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) such as business English. I began to lose my hearing as a young adult, and wear two digital hearing aids which help me a lot in managing day-to-day the communication challenges of a deaf person. I also understand the challenges of being a second language learner. As a young adult I attended university in Québec, and immersed myself in the French language. I have lived and worked in Montréal in bilingual settings - and used my French language skills outside of Québec. I love languages, writing, and communicating! |
