| Introduction | My name is Luke, and I want to change someone's world. I want to go to medical school and start an NGO to help people all around the world. According to one of my favorite books, "Hope in Hell," "You can't stop a genocide without doctors." I agree with this statement and see my future as peacemaking though medicine. One of my other favorite Quotes is from John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charley" and is: "Then I remembered something I heard a long time ago that I hope is true. It was unwritten law in China, so my informant told me, that when one man saved another's life he became responsible for that life to the end of it's existence. For, having interfered with a course of events, the savior could not escape his responsibility. And that has always made good sense to me." I suppose I have some idea of what I'm getting myself into. |
| Interests | As of now, my interests include living the life for one year in Brazil with some of the coolest people I know. Drinking beer on the rua and experiencing everything that this awesome and backward society has to teach me. I'm living it up every moment and am loving every second of it. |
