Introduction Professor Hausel was the most productive geologist in the history of the Wyoming Geological Survey where he discovered >100 mineral deposits & anomalies. He authored 700 publications & mapped >1000 km2 of complex geological terrains including 4 Archean greenstone belts, several gold districts, a major lamproite field & 3 kimberlite districts. In 2006, he became VP of Exploration for DiamonEx,Ltd Australia & has consulted for a group of diamond, gold & base metal companies. He was presented the President's Award, the Thayer Lindsley Award for Discovery of a Major Gold Deposit (Donlin Creek, Alaska), the Archimedes's Award for Geological Sciences & inducted into Halls of Fame. He discovered the Rattlesnake Hills gold district (Wyoming) & two world-class colored gemstone deposits (Grizzly Creek & Sherman Mountain), and found many other gold, colored gemstone and diamond deposits. His recovery of the largest iolite gemstone in the world (24,150 carats) attracted attention to these incredible gems in eastern Wyoming.
