Introduction From a great job in Fairfield to another up here in Springfield, my years in health sciences libraries spans both the pre-Internet era of searching Medline using "dumb terminals" and the old command driven search systems from Dialog, BRS, SDC, and NLM - to using a PC with communications software and "end-user" programs to the Web based new technologies of today. Yes, it's dizzying, and fun to imagine the levels to which the next generation of kids will take it. Having worked in both hospital, university and large academic health center libraries I appreciate the information requirements at every setting. Ages ago while teaching a library research course for the school of Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill, I discovered my love for teaching, the best aspect of librarianship in whatever format. So I've begun another degree in the education field back at Sacred Heart University. Even with new forms of electronic communication, the classroom setting best assures a human face -(but I'm amazed by the online teaching possibilities). Whenever I come home from MLA, it's always great seeing colleagues from the region and running into new faces near and far. So please stay in touch.
