About me

Industry Non-Profit
Occupation Linda Alberda is the founder of the Lake Erie Assistance Dogs, a service dog club as well as co-founder of a national therapy/crisis response K9 organization, Paws with Compassion.
Location Cleveland, Ohio, United States
Introduction Linda has successfully trained three service dogs for herself: Laurel, Hardy and Chaplin. Besides doing typical mobility tasks, they have performed three different medical alerts which have profoundly changed Linda's life. Linda and the Labs have also competed in dog sports in different venues: obedience, rally, nose work and agility. Laurel is now retired but loved playing in the dog sports. Hardy excels at nose work, therapy work and especially crisis response. In Chaplin's all too short life, he proved to be a wonderful teacher, an amazing service dog, therapy/crisis response K9 and dog sports partner. Recently, Ziggy Stardust, a Tonkinese kitten arrived to provide his own special comfort and healing to Linda's family but also with the hope of going on to do therapy and crisis response work as well. There will be another puppy joining Linda’s family within the next couple weeks. This boy or girl will benefit from all Laurel, Hardy and Chaplin have taught Linda and Brent Linda will be forever grateful for all that she continues to learn about joy, patience, acceptance, thankfulness and humility from her partners, teachers and goofy friends, Laurel, Hardy, Chaplin and Ziggy.
