| Introduction | One hot summer day, I thought I could sew a dress for one of my daughters, then 4. The heat was brutal and I thought, the lighter the fabric, the happier she will be. Days later, I talked a friend in to showing me parts of a sewing machine but I gave up. I took her to the mall later that week and stared at the hems, seams, straps and more vowing I would figure it out so I could make matching bows, skirts and dresses at a decent price. Fast forward 8 years. I pulled my machine out of the closet as boring days became a thing with teenagers. The impossible happened. I stayed committed and I made stuff; It took a long time before I got the confidence that I do now. I wasted a lot of fabric, a lot of time and a lot of energy.... but.... it cured the boring moments when my teens were enjoying time with their friends. I became a rock star... so I am told. Teaching students became a thing and what was sewing for friends and family became a business. That's the story. I didn't give up. I taught myself long before You Tube became a thing. As I like to say, I winged it! |
