Gender MALE
Industry Tourism
Occupation Tour Guide
Location Manhattan, NY, United States
Introduction I became a tour guide (and humble amateur historian) after I got my first pair of in-line skates in the mid 90s. First I realized how small the island actually is. Then it became a fascination to decode the historical layers of this urban puzzle. Every part of town tells its own story, through the myriad re-purposing of buildings, to streets that defy the grid, to the hills and valleys barely detectable in the asphalt. Unlocking that information is why I started this blog.
Interests In-line skating, Exploring and photographing, Manhattan, giving tours, NYC history, reading (mostly nonfiction), writing, editing, Judge Judy
Favorite Movies Fargo, The Hangover, Goodfellas, The Color Purple, The Sopranos (there should be a movie)
Favorite Music 80s, The Beatles, Opera (great for skating to)
Favorite Books As You Pass By, Mannahatta, New York: A Physical History, The Other Islands of New York, the Columbia Historic Portrait of New York, and 97 others
