| Introduction | I have been interested in and trying to practice yoga, in one form or another, since 1999. I remember the very first yoga class I ever walked into. It was taught by Zuzaanna Vee in a women's gym in Chapel Hill and my buddy, Alex, talked me into going. I went and I LOVED it! Everything from lying on my mat before the class started, taking deep breaths and getting in touch with my body and how it felt to be in my body, to my very first down dog, triangle, warrior one, and all the way to savasana, I felt like, on some level, I had arrived! Since that first class, I have practiced with several teachers in various settings... Iyengar-based yoga, Kripalu teachers, restorative classes, Yoga for Weight Loss videos, in art centers, couples yoga, at rest stops, prenatal yoga, on dates, Ashtanga Yoga, karma yoga, Bikram Yoga, workshops, yogilates, and everything in between... I have done some yoga! And finally, after all these years, I have found my spiritual yoga home at the Ashtanga Yoga Center of the Outer Banks where I am constantly reminded, "99% practice!" |
