Introduction Richard Badalamente embarked on a writing career after starting his work life digging out sewer pipe, cleaning tile, and working in destruction. Finding he was ill suited for blue-collar jobs, Richard entered college and then joined the Air Force, where he wore blue collars for twenty years. Richard eventually earned his PhD and still sprightly after his Air Force career, joined a DOE national laboratory, working in a number of national security related areas. Following his retirement from this enriching endeavor, Richard embarked on his current writing career, perhaps in an effort to balance his previous successes with the bitter taste of failure. His articles, papers, essays, stories, and poetry have been published on's Kindle Direct Publishing, and in The Houston Literary Review, The Flash Fiction Carnival, Pen Pricks, Eat the State, a few newspapers, and lots of arcane technical journals. Richard writes fiction and non-fiction, sometimes confusing the two, especially when writing about politics. His paintings and photography often accompany his writings.
