| Introduction | Companion Caretakers is a full-service pet and companion animal caretaking business serving the greater Durango area. About Raylene, principle caretaker: Raylene has been an animal-lover her entire life. Growing up in suburban Southern California, her favorite toy as a child was her miniature ranch set, complete with plastic barn and an array of animals. Today, Raylene owns and operates a successful alpaca ranch in the Hesperus area. She serves as a foster mom for the La Plata County Humane Society, specializing in socialization of feral kittens. She has also been active in fostering and rehabilitation of dogs for the National Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Network, as well as llamas for Southwest Llama Rescue. Her four-legged family consists of two Anatolian shepherds, a golden retriever, and a gaggle of happy rescued and adopted cats, plus a beautiful herd of alpacas. |
