| Introduction | I want to follow Jesus with "all" of my heart, not most of it, or, some of it. Jesus asks us to forsake ourselves and Follow Him, He never implied that we should attempt to carry on with our former lives while sporting a "I love Jesus" T-shirt or a religious style bumper sticker! He was very clear in describing what it takes to "abide" in Him, and it was certainly not asking God to bless our lustful, carnal appetites. On the contrary, He asks us to turn from our former selves in order to serve Him, not the idols of this world! (remember the old wineskins and new wine... they will burst!) We need to become new wineskins, after which, God will fill us. - Let us all count the cost before we begin! Because the road is all uphill and the wind is almost always in your face. |
