Introduction My original training was as a biologist and I have always been employed in the science industry. I have taken photographs for as long as I can remember, but started to specialise in wildlife images about 7 years ago. I mostly take pictures of birds these days and gravitated towards this because I found it quite a challenge in the early days. Most days I still do ! There is a link to my bird images in the 'Links' section below. My reasons for looking at the OCA course were two fold. Firstly, that it offered an opportunity to get away from the scientific/technical side of photography and how the kit works to produce an image, and broaden out into more of the artistic and conceptual elements, and secondly to develop a greater range of ability away from my beloved 500mm lens .. It's going to be hard work to get away from thinking like a scientist and to move away from the bird portraits, so it will be interesting to see how I get on!
