About me

Introduction Diagnosed about ten years ago with CP CML, just before the significant advent of Gleevec. I opted for IFN therapy. After some small fits and starts, I actually settled on a relatively small dose of IFN and to my complete amazement, I actually achieved a CCR, MMR and CMR. However, I lost my response after 18 months, not completely mind you, and I could have upped the dose of IFN, because at the time I was only on .5 MIU/daily, but I succumbed to the peer pressure and switched to Gleevec. Later I will give more details, but after three years I opted to go back to IFN therapy. I enjoyed another 18months of low dose (can you say zero side effects) IFN and good results, CCR and MMR. Then I tried another newer TKI - Sprycel. Here's were I got a bit more "gutsy" - I negotiated a combination approach - 50mg of Sprycel and just a "whiff" of IFN (.5 miu/daily or 90 ug/weekly of Pegasys). I had been on this combination holding onto CMR for two years.....
