| Introduction | I started in this business at a very young age due to my Italian father owning successful restaurant. My first foray into being involved was in the kitchen. The foundation of cooking is very important and chefs were my heroes. Apart from my father, Keith Floyd was probably my first and most influential figure. Wine was a hobby. I studied, worked hard, learned and honed my craft and have been fortunate to have worked with and for some wonderful people. You might say I'm very lucky because I have turned my hobby into my career. I have been Wine Buyer and Head Sommelier of some of London's best restaurants. I go to work each day with an open mind and believe that one can always learn something new. I now have my own business being involved in various exciting projects, including wine consultancy, advice, mentoring, working with private and corporate clients, bespoke tastings, judging wines for awards, my website www.robertgiorgione.com social media activities, blogging and writing for various magazines and websites. I'm also in the process of writing my first book. |
