| Introduction | Bob Wieking was born in San Francisco, California in 1943. His father was a machinist, experimenter, and amateur radio operator for all of his life. His mother started her teaching career in a one-room school house in Rescue, CA and eventually spent the rest of her teaching life at Raphael Weill Elementary School in the Fillmore of San Francisco. They were both children of German immigrants to the SF Bay Area. Bob had an early desire to know more about machines, engines, gun powder, and electricity After graduating from San Jose State University, with BA and MA in Industrial Arts and Physical Science, he began work in various electronics defense industries of Silicon Valley. He also also fit in an 8-month sojourn with backpack, thumb, and motorcycle through Western Europe. He had the fortune to marry Nancy Keathley, of Lafayette, CA, after meeting at a Natural Sciences Field Course in Death Valley. He began teaching high school science, wood working, and electronics in Orinda, CA.We have been married for 39 years while enjoying the birth of our daughter, Katie, and our son, Rob. Nancy and Bob enjoy two grandsons, Colin and Andrew. |
