Introduction Double hits are permitted in indoor volleyball but not in beach volleyball. Beach volleyball players are not permitted to double contact the ball during the serve receive, as previously stated, and this also applies to digging a spike. These things are permitted in indoor volleyball nets for whatever reason. In beach volleyball, a player may not set a ball over the nett on the first or second contact if they are not facing the nett. Basically, if you're going to set over the nett, you must be square to the nett, whether you're facing the nett or have your back to it. Anything in between is strictly prohibited.
