| Introduction | Although I spent years joking about it, wondering what it might actually be like when it happened, and (horrors!) even dreaming of it - it's time. My children have started to leave us. Two down and one to go. For now they've only gone as far as the nearest state university but we all know what that leads to. Honest-to-goodness lives of their own. The house that used to buzz with friends and giggles and bad Top 40 music is all of a sudden quiet most days. And empty. It turns out 15-year-old-boys, which is what we have left, have a lot going on and very little of it includes their mothers. The quiet, however, has lent itself nicely to the opportunity to work more as a freelancer and, in turn, a plethora of Empty House Creations. |
