About me

Location Washington, D.C.
Introduction Food and travel writer, dining columnist, cookbook author, event planner, raconteur. I am an ex-chef and restaurateur and have worked every job in a restaurant. I left the business to become a writer in 2004. My first published piece appeared in the Washington Post, where I then became a columnist and featured writer in the Food section. I have developed over 400 original recipes for the Post since then. Aside from writing, I have also created two of the leading food events in Washington, DC: Chef's Best for Food and Friends and Chefs for Equality for the Human Rights Campaign. I therefore have more than just a fork and a keyboard as credentials for what I do. I have real restaurant and cooking experience, a point of view and a perspective from the inside track. I share my opinions and thoughts here. Take, leave, share, steal or borrow them if you'd like.
