| Introduction | Tama Baldwin is a writer and photographer whose subject is the intersection of human institutions and instruments with wild nature as it otherwise might exist without our presence on the planet. Of late she has been documenting North American wilderness areas in the arctic and subarctic. Her current projects include a book about wilderness civilizations, and two exhibitions of photographs–the first which focuses on climate change as it is evidenced in the North American Arctic-–and the second of which focuses on the absence of natural darkness. She is the recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Individual Artists Fellowship, a Fulbright, as well as residences at Yaddo, McDowell, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. |
