Introduction How do you start to tell people about yourself? You can tell people what you like or don't like, but how can you let them inside your head so they could see you at the core and understand the essence of who you are? Perhaps some people don't want to delve that deeply, but it is a quandary. I can say that I have had a passion for reading most of my entire life. (There was that 7 or 8 year period where I couldn't read for pleasure at all. Thanks, Mr. Tichenor.) I have to say, though, that is was my mother who renewed my passion for reading. All she did was put a copy of The Hobbit in my hand when I had a summer job lifeguarding at a pool in a retirement village. (Believe me, no one swims before August.) That one small, not insignificant book opened up a whole new world for me and whet my appetite for fantasy books. I worked for 11 years in a retail bookstore (it's like crack having all those new books in your hands) and have missed not being able to talk about books that interest me. Being able to write about the books I have been reading has given me an outlet and perhaps that will keep the critic in my head quiet...well at least for now.
