Introduction	I am Nethrakere Udaya Shankara Narayana Bhat, a journalist from Nethrakere of Vittla village in Dakshina Kannada District, presently based at Bangalore (Karnataka). I brought a handwritten monthly 'Kesari' with the help of my brothers, sisters, other members of family and later I used to write reports on college activities to 'Nava Bharata', 'Udayavani' and 'Vikrama'. I started my professional life as a salesman in a bookshop and entered the field of journalism as a Sub Editor/ Reporter in 'Hindusthan Samachar' news agency at Bangalore and later worked in 'Janavani', (Eveninger Bangalore), 'Munjane' (Bangalore), 'Mungaru' (Mangalore), 'Samyukta Karnataka' and 'Prajavani' (Bangalore,Hubli), Vijayavani, Suvarna times of Karnataka(Bangalore) in various capacities from Reporter to Chief Reporter, from Sub Editor to Chief Sub Editor. I started a monthly 'Spardha Samanya Jnana' first Kannada monthly on General Knowledge (1984). During college days I was inspired by the Jayaprakash Narayan's movement for Total Revolution, participated in the struggle against emergency in 1975-77 and was jailed for 3 months at Mangalore Sub Jail. Presently working with Sampoorna Swaraj Foundation.
