Introduction | I am a retired high school Social Studies teacher with family connections to Salmon River Lake and Giant's Lake, Guysborough County. Since retirement, I have researched the stories of First World War veterans who were born and/or lived in Guysborough County, specifically those who died during or shortly after the war. I have self-published two volumes, outlining the background and experience of 136 individuals who died during Canada's overseas service, or following the war from causes connected to their time in uniform. I also created a second blog—"Harry's 85th Diary"—at http://harrys85thdiary.blogspot.ca , outlining the experiences of Henry Harris "Harry" Murray, a Pictou County native who enlisted with the 85th Battalion in September 1915 and was a member of its accomplished band. I am presently working on a third blog, which will contain profiles of Guysborough County's fallen Second World War soldiers. You are welcome to contact me at the e-mail address posted at the top of this blog if you have information to share or questions about any posts. |
