| Introduction | Dr. Dave Shideler moved to Oklahoma in 2008 to serve as an Extension Specialist in Community and Economic Development. He provides strategic planning facilitation, retail trade analysis, economic impact analysis, and entrepreneurship research for the purpose of empowering communities to prosper in the changing economic environment. He also aids communities in understanding how macroeconomic conditions impact on rural Oklahoma, increasing civic engagement, and he measures and evaluates the interactions between the environment and local economy. Before moving to Stillwater, Dave was Assistant Professor of Economics at Murray State University in Murray, KY, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses and conducted research on the economic impact of broadband deployment. Prior to receiving his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in 2005, Dave worked for the Chalmers Center for Economic Development and taught at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia; here, he taught undergraduates and consulted with faith-based organizations on poverty alleviation strategies such as IDAs, life skills training, and entrepreneurship. |
