| Introduction | I'm dyslexic. I love to read. I know the two aren't suppose to go together, but because of an amazing teacher and the world of spell check I have been able to overcome the obstacle. I was a straight A student but I couldn't understand phonics or the rules to spelling. I'm telling you to this day "i" before "e" except after "c" can be really confusing in my head. In college I had this professor that loved my essays but couldn't understand why I was constantly misspelling simple words over and over like who and how. Finally after a few weeks he sent me to the learning center where they told me I had dyslexia. It explained so much. I never let it ruin my love of books. It may take me a week or two to read one book, but I'm ok with that. I know now that it doesn't make me any less smart, it just makes me see the world differently. |
