About me

Introduction NEW: More recipes in my new book 'Breakfast in Gascony'. Download it from Amazon For years I ran a small hotel in SW France. An area that doesn't have many restaurants so I cooked lunches and dinners for the guests. Who clearly liked what they got, as they started asking for the recipes. At first I emailed them, later I started this blog. I try to plate up our food as appetising as possible ( but without having sous-chefs the food is simple). An advantage of nicely presented food is that you tend to eat good but in smaller quantaties. But also we noticed that a good chef cooks great food with affordable ingredients. Mackerel or squid instead of monkfish. Vegetables and fruit that are in season. The less popular and hence cheaper cuts of meats. Recipes are serving 2 unless mentioned otherwise. Enjoy!
