About me

Occupation Postdoctoral Fellow in History, Higher School of Economics
Location Moscow, Russia
Introduction I am a historian working on Soviet history and its relation to contemporary issues in Russian society. My PhD at the University of Toronto was "Communist Upbringing under Stalin," an examination of Stalinist militarization of youth, now under revision as a book manuscript. My second project "Return to the Motherland" examines the troubled return of Soviet forced laborers and prisoners after World War II. These projects and my other work examines the intersection of politics, society, war and culture. And, of course, I am also interested in using computers to enhance how we tell these stories.
