| Introduction | Living in Goa after completing my post grad, my first real job was with a small time oil field service company with a farcical name that you'd think it was producing bits for the NASA shuttle launcher. The service offered to big oil companies was called mudlogging which sounded utterly dull & uninteresting. There were some people would politely ask what that meant; it probably conjured up images in their minds of me filling up samples of the ubiquitous red colour soil found in Goa into tiny plastic bags behind a mundane government laboratory awaiting it's imminent closure. It was different albeit involved sampling but did find good use to oil companies for their perenial search of oil & gas. Travelling by trains, buses, boats & planes became a part of my job like every other bod who chose to work in the world of the evil oil industry |
