| Introduction | As biomedical researcher, I cannot help but cringe each time I hear of someone using their position in the field to harm another. I am increasingly sickened by the lack of empathy and responsibility, and the number of outright criminal activity observed in some individuals and organizations involved in medicine. Anti-social behaviors invariably lead to harm for the public no matter the field. The fact is, pathological behavior in a practitioner gives medicine a bad name and makes it difficult for good pro-social practitioners to do their jobs. Those in the field should always be aware of, and show disdain for those who deliberately cause harm, or try to cover it up. For these reasons, I think exposing pathological individuals and organizations in medicine for what they are is a public service. |
